7.4.: Since the petition went online on 20 March, many people have signed it and expressed their solidarity with the demands summarized by IG Kultur Steiermark. From cultural associations and initiatives, to artists and art enthusiasts, to large institutions, the petition has received broad support and has been made public.
Many artists and cultural workers took part in the dissemination and mobilization with their own ideas and creative actions. With the #brauchenwir campaign, the Styrian art and culture scene has a tool at its disposal to network and express its commitment to Styria as a cultural region on a broad scale.
The campaign was created within a short space of time on the initiative of young artists, was shared thousands of times and found its way onto posters and banners in both urban and rural areas. To name just a few activities, banners were displayed at Kunsthaus Graz / Camera Austria, Akademie Graz, uniT, Theater im Bahnhof and other locations, and posters were distributed by many supporters in the city and province. During the Diagonale, a one-minute #brauchenwir trailer was shown before the film programs.
The #brauchenwir campaign highlights what and who is behind the term “Kulturland”. What cultural diversity means is presented in over 150 slogans. More than 250 cultural initiatives and institutions from Bad Aussee to Bad Radkersburg are mentioned by name on posters.
The campaign is a decentralized, open concept designed to create visibility and publicity for the cause.
Anyone who would like to support it is cordially invited to download the subjects and animations, print them out themselves and continue to raise awareness on social media with the hashtags #brauchenwir and #kulturlandretten.
The graphics & videos with all initiatives can be downloaded here.
