7.7.: A strong and moving statement was made at Freiheitsplatz Graz on Tuesday evening: As part of the #Soziallandretten manifestation, the panther rose up – as a living sculpture and symbolic guardian of humanity, care and social peace. The artistic action combined performance, text and music to create an impressive expression of social responsibility. At a time of great challenges, the panther reminds us of the importance of solidarity, compassion and responsible action – especially in view of the current cuts in social services.
As a reminder and symbol of hope, it stands for values that are currently coming under increasing pressure in the political debate: social justice, solidarity and the protection of the weakest. The campaign was not only an artistic contribution, but also a conscious statement – to rethink minds and hearts.
The panther embodies the power of change and the call for social coexistence that leaves no one behind – as a wandering reminder and ambassador for humanity, social justice and social cohesion, she can be requested by institutions, initiatives and groups.
The text about the panther, written by Susanne Konstanze Weber and read aloud during the solidarity march, can be downloaded here as PdF.
The project was conceived by Chiara Longari, Paul Lässer, Margarethe Makovec, Maryam Mohammadi, Susanne Konstanze Weber and Andrea Zahlbruckner-Jaufer. The text and performance were written by Susanne Konstanze Weber, the music by Josef Fürpaß, Benjamin Klug, Lothar Lässer, Sandy Lopicic, Lluis Martinez and Keyvan Paydar. Paul Lässer created the sculpture, while Leon Podesser and Maria Schneider were responsible for the production.
Supported by: Liechtenstein Holztreff GmbH, kunst.wirt.schaft, Roter Keil and < rotor > Centre for Contemporary Art.
