5.6.: 11,611 signatures to save the cultural landscape of Styria – we say THANK YOU!
Since the large demonstration on March 20, this overwhelming number of people has shown how important the diverse cultural landscape is to them: from the public to those affected, people from Austria and abroad have supported our four demands, and artists and those working in the cultural field have shared appeals for support.
On June 4, the signatures of the petition were handed over to Karlheinz Kornhäusl, Provincial Councillor for Culture, at the Literaturhaus Graz, and the petition was submitted to the Petitions Committee of the Province of Styria. Gerhard Ruiss also presented the supra-regional declaration of support of the IG Autorinnen Autoren, which has been signed by over 300 organizations and numerous well-known authors.
The initiative is pleased with the exchange with provincial and Graz city politicians so far, but our concerns are not finished with the conclusion of the petition: the exchange will therefore continue in the coming months, as it is a matter of getting down to business.
